A tasting at the estate

Spend an afternoon at Château Ateni, a family winery in the Ateni Valley near Gori. Your host walks you through the vineyard and cellar and pours a guided tasting of our wines - from the fresh Atenuri and Chinuri to our sparkling Brut and Pet-Nat.

It is an unhurried, personal experience: a small family estate rather than a tourist production line, with the winemaker himself often leading the tasting.

Prices

Prices are per person; children pay half. Couples and solo guests are welcome - a tasting is charged at least 3 full prices, and a tasting with lunch at least 5. A 50% deposit is paid online when you book and the rest at the winery; free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your visit.

Wine with Dinner/Lunch

Degustation & Lunch - 100 GEL / person: The wine and chacha flight plus a full Georgian lunch - pork barbecue, Kartlian khachapuri, ajapsandali, fresh salads, cheese, tkemali and churchkhela. Per person; minimum 5 guests.
Degustation & Lunch - Premium - 140 GEL / person: Our grand table: everything in the lunch, plus sparkling wine, hot satsivi and a raspberry-jam dessert roll. Per person; minimum 5 guests.

How the visit runs

A tasting lasts about 90 minutes. Your host walks you through the vineyard and the cellar where the wine is aged, tells the story of Atenuri, the Ateni Valley appellation, and then pours the wines, from the fresh Atenuri and Chinuri to our sparkling Brut and Pet-Nat. Tastings are led in Georgian, English or Russian, often by the winemaker himself. We welcome groups from a couple up to a hundred guests. Please book ahead, so we can prepare the wines and the table; book online with a 50% deposit, or message us on WhatsApp. Tastings start on the hour, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Wine and a Georgian table

Our family restaurant sits beside the cellar, serving traditional Georgian cuisine - grilled meats, garden vegetables, homemade jams and local produce. Add a meal to your tasting, and your host can raise a toast as your tamada in the Georgian tradition.

Getting here

Château Ateni is in the Ateni Valley, about a ten-minute drive south of Gori in Shida Kartli and roughly an hour and a half from Tbilisi by car. The estate is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00. A tasting pairs naturally with a morning at the Uplistsikhe cave town and the 7th-century Ateni Sioni church, both a short drive away, which makes the visit an easy day trip from Tbilisi. To stay the night, book one of our five guest cottages beside the cellar. We can also arrange a transfer for you; just ask when you book.
